School Library Program of the Year
Deadline: April 30
In recognition of excellence in a school library program, free registration for the fall annual conference will be awarded as well as a plaque will be presented at the annual fall conference in November.
Criteria
The librarian(s) in the program nominated must be member(s) of VAASL in good standing. Must not be a recipient of this identical award in the previous three years.
Application Must Include
- A library mission statement and evidence that shows how well the mission of the library is integrated into the mission, goals, and objectives of the school (not to exceed one double-spaced page)
- Evidence to show how the school library program practices its commitment to ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, as well as exemplifying implementation of AASL's learning standards and guidelines (not to exceed four double-spaced pages)
- Evidence of ongoing outreach initiatives to parents and/or the larger community (not to exceed one double-spaced page)
- Two letters of support: One from an administrator and one from a teacher with whom the applicant is currently working
